25 Years of Hip Furniture
This year we are celebrating 25 years of bringing modern furniture to Portland at Hip. As we reminisce about all the wonderful customers we’ve had the privilege to meet and serve through the years, it’s always fun to look back to see how far we’ve come.
It’s hard to believe but 1995 was a quarter of a century ago. If you were around in 1995, you may remember some highlights for Portland. The Grateful Dead performed at Portland Meadows. The Trailblazers moved into their new home – The Rose Garden. And Rookie sensation Arvydas Sabonis was selected to the All-Rookie First Team.
1995 was the year the DVD was invented, so your local Blockbuster video was still full of VHS tapes. To get on the internet required a noisy dial-up modem, and AOL would say “You’ve Got Mail.” And with the invention of iPhones still more than a decade in the future, many people still carried pagers clipped to their belt to be reached in case of an emergency.
A lot has changed in 25 years. Jerry Garcia is no longer with us and Portland Meadows was sold for redevelopment. The Rose Garden had a name change to Moda Center. And basketball legend Arvydas Sabonis has retired and now his son plays in the NBA.
But as more things change, some classics stand the test of time. We like to think that one of those is Hip Furniture! What was once a commercial warehouse, Hip turned into a flourishing modern furniture showroom packed with 11,000 square feet of boutique lines you can’t find anywhere else. We are locally owned and operated, and have been in our same showroom for all 25 years!
It’s our anniversary but the gifts are for you, our loyal customers. Stop in and visit during February, and you’ll find savings up to 50% during our 25th Anniversary Sale!
Thank you Portland for a great 25 years. We look forward to the next 25!
