It Starts with Great Design
When you walk through the Hip showroom, many of the items that immediately capture visitor’s attention are from the Natuzzi Italia line of fine furniture designs. This does not happen by accident. Natuzzi has become an iconic name in Italian furniture by creating great designs.
Natuzzi Italia was founded by Pasquale Natuzzi in 1959 and has become Italy’s largest furniture supplier. The company is also one of the largest investors in research and development. Pasquale personally manages this at their Style Center located in Santeramo in Colle, Italy, where designers study worldwide trends to design and select their unique materials.
Pasquale Natuzzi has been named one of the most important entrepreneurs in the history of southern Italy. His focus on quality flows through the entire manufacturing process, from design to delivery. Natuzzi’s study of trends in fashion, art and emerging lifestyles is just the beginning. Initial production begins in the experimental workshop where engineers and skilled artisans shape polyurethanes, cut leathers, and sewn fabrics to create the prototype. This is when the designs come to life.
This process happens at the Italian Style Centre, where designers, colorists and interior decorators create the individual models and combinations of designs, functions, materials and colors. But Natuzzi’s focus on design extends far beyond their Style Centre. They partner with world-class professionals to develop new projects and creations.
A few of their many partnerships include these brilliant designers:
Mauro Lipparini is an eclectic architect and designer who expresses his creativity in all areas: complex industrial projects, interior architecture, installations, and the study of products. He is one of the leading figures of “Italian minimalism”, internationally successful, and his talent has earned him many awards. Lipparini graduated in Florence in 1980 and chose Italy as the ideal place for his research and work.
Bernhardt and Vella is a partnership that started in Milan in 2008, which combines the talent of Ellen Bernhardt and Paola Vella. Their work stems from a professional eclecticism that ranges from industrial design to interior decoration.
Marcel Wanders has built a leading product and interior design studio located in the creative capital of Amsterdam, with over 1,900 iconic product and interior design experiences all around the globe. Under Wander’s creative leadership and creative direction, and with the support of Gabriele Chiave as creative director since 2014, Marcel Wanders employs 52 design and communication experts.
Paola Navone is a longtime resident of Milan and is an architect, designer, art director, interior decorator and curator of exhibitions and events. In 1983 in Osaka, she received the prestigious International Design Award, and in 2000 she was named Designer of the Year by the German magazine Architektur & Wohnen.
